Friendly Little Stray

For several months now, there has been a very young stray cat who has over time grown to be very comfortable with my husband & I. At first she seemed to be a regular stray who would visit simply to ask for food, but as the weeks went by from the first day we met her, she began snuggling with us, following us around even when we didn't give her food, playing with us, and by the end of the few weeks she even began inviting herself into our home.

Did we freak out a little bit about her inviting herself over? Oh yes. On the first few days of coming into our home we were concerned about her possibly having fleas or her urinating/defecating, but nothing happened. Three months later, the home is still clean, and we are free of fleas. So now, "sometimes" we let her in. She loves coming into our home. She loves following us around in the home, laying around, playing with random items on the floor (sometimes unfortunately our shoes become play victims) and often hanging out with us. We've at this point also trained her to stay away from the chinchillas. Most of the time she is good about it! She is quite a cute little stray. Lately she has been hanging out with us on our dining chairs and sometimes she  falls asleep. The following pictures are one of the recent times which she fell asleep on the chair.

Observing this little stray, I've come to the conclusion that she is much more similar to a house cat, and not a stray. That reminded me of a conversation which my husband & I had at Little Tokyo a few weeks back about how occasionally people identify themselves closely with an ethnicity that differs from their own. During our discussion we also related that to instances where individuals who aren't stereotypically "black" like rap, hip hop & soul. My husband said to me, "It's not their fault they weren't born black," but they can still identify with and enjoy the music. :)

I love my wise husband.

See you soon, little stray. :)
